Henchmen

Maugeter - The Keys to the City includes four henchmen who can join you in your travels. These henchmen have their own personalities and motivations, although you won't find convincing them to join you that challenging (that's why they're henchmen... they're four of the very small group of people in the city who will give you the time of day). The four henchmen are a fighter, cleric, rogue and sorcerer. Not all of them are easy to find.

Maugeter has been (pretty much) completely rewritten to allow you to take two henchmen at once. This was hard work, so make sure you take advantage of it! The combat is balanced on the assumption you will have two henchmen with you after you hit level two.

Because of Maugeter's low-combat nature, you shouldn't worry unduly about matching the class of the henchman to your own. For example, normally it would be suicidal for an arcane spellcaster to have another arcane spellcaster as a henchman, but in Maugeter you'll get on more or less fine. That said, taking a more powerful henchman such as a cleric or fighter will make combats easier.

You can access your companions' inventories. If you have SOU or HOTU installed, you can do this through the radial menu, otherwise you must use the appropriate dialogue option when talking to them. Unfortunately your henchmen will unequip all their custom equipment when they level up (which happens when you level up). You need to go back into their inventory and reequip items when this happens.

The module includes the latest version (1.08) of the Tony K AI mod. Please don't override this yourself, it will break all sorts of things. For those who've never used this mod, there are some minor command changes:

Sara

Sarasaya Anya Senra Benedar is a sorceress from the river port town of Morad, travelling to Maugeter in order to join the School of Wizardry. An elf, she is physically weak but very dextrous - her career as an athelete was cut short by her manifestation of sorcerous powers. Sara has a very short attention span, and a habit of excessive physical illustration of whatever she is saying. Sara is finding the city's gate pass system extremely troublesome.

Catherey

Catherey is Maugeter's finest - that is to say, only - private detective. He works from an office-cum-front room in the city's second district. He keeps his old rapier around for when things get difficult. Recently he's been down on his luck, and is looking for a way to make enough money to pay his rent. Catherey is soft-spoken and good-natured.

Sacrista

Vagya's Henchfolk in Maugeter's first district is a den of wretched villains, scum who hire themselves out for a handful of coins. Sacrista is different. So far he has refused to work for anyone that sought to hire him, though Vagya is convinced the man is a powerful and effective fighter. He seems to be waiting for something, or someone.

Nalani

Inhabitants of the second district have been overheard talking about a young woman with healing powers, dressed in black and red, who can occasionally be seen around the district. Strange people wearing similar outfits are sometimes seen entering and leaving a house on the waterfront.
